QoMEX 2024Presentation Guidelines

Oral presentations (full technical and full dataset & tools papers)

Your slot size is 20 minutes (15 minutes presentation, 4 minutes questions, 1 minute switching).

Before the conference, please:

  • Prepare for a presentation of maximal 15 minutes.
  • Keep in mind readability from a distance (across a typical lecture hall) when choosing font types and sizes (recommended minimum: 20pt). Your presentation will be projected.
  • Choose color spaces and contrasts with respect to visual impairments (e.g. color-blindness).
  • Specify the presenter of the presentation in EDAS.
  • Provide / update your (brief) CV in EDAS.

At the conference, please:

  • Present yourself to the Session Chair at least 15 minutes before the session starts.
  • Prepare your talk such that you will end on time. Session chairs will be advised to keep a strict timing.
  • There will be a Windows-based notebook available in the conference room for you to upload your presentation before the start of the corresponding session.
  • Using your own computer should be avoided as much as possible, as troubleshooting following switching presentation computers can eat up valuable presentation time and affect the flow of the session, and thus the receptivity of your listeners.
  • You might want to test-run your presentation on a different computer than yours in order to see that it works, in particular if you have audio or video embedded.
  • Your presentation (Microsoft Powerpoint or Adobe PDF) will be accepted in USB Flash Drive form or per email to the session chair.

Poster presentations (short technical papers and short dataset & tools papers) (Slots on Tuesday June 18 and Thursday June 20)

Before the conference, please:

  • Observe the maximal size of one A0 PORTRAIT poster sheet (or two A1 landscape, four A2 portrait etc.)
  • Keep in mind readability from a distance (1 m) when choosing font types and sizes.
  • Choose color spaces and contrasts with respect to visual impairments (e.g. color-blindness).
  • Print your poster.
  • Prepare a 30-second pitch talk and a 1-slide presentation for the lightning session to introduce and make the audience curious about your poster.
  • The session chair will contact you prior to the session and ask for you to send them your pitch slide via email, so that a slide deck can be put together.

At the conference please:

  • Posters should be set up before 11 am on the day of the poster presentation and removed in the evening after the session.
  • Numbering: each poster will be assigned a number (this will be indicated on the conference website a few days prior to the conference). The location where you should hang up your poster will be clearly numbered.
